The Gulfstream G450 is the final and most widely built version of the GIV family, which also includes the GIV, the GIV-SP, the G300, the G350 and the G400. It stayed in production for more than a decade, and a good number fly with European operators. The cabin is 1.88 m high and 2.24 m wide, so adults walk upright from the cockpit door to the baggage hold, and charter aircraft usually seat 12 to 14.
Strengths
- London - New York in 7:00 h and Hamburg - Dubai in 6:16 h without a fuel stop
- Up to three cabin zones and a washroom with a door and a basin
- A 4.79 m³ hold that passengers can walk into during the flight
Limitations
- Four people on a one-hour hop pay for floor space they never use
- The cabin is narrower than in the Challenger 650 or the Global 6000
- Lugano, the Courchevel altiport and London City are out of reach

The G450 is no longer built. Gulfstream replaced it with the G500, and the sister models G350 and G400 left production as well. Many aircraft remain with operators in Europe and the Gulf, so a free one is often found at short notice, but interiors vary a lot from one aircraft to the next. Each offer therefore comes with cabin photos and the age of the aircraft, and on request we add a newer type to the same quote.

Gulfstream G450 cabin: three zones, galley and washroom
Without the baggage hold the cabin measures about 12.29 m, with six large oval windows on each side. The most common layout has four club seats at the front, a conference table for four in the middle and a sofa with two more seats at the rear. Seats swivel and recline flat and the sofa opens into a bed, so on a night sector several passengers can sleep lying down.
Galley
Next to the entrance door, with room to prepare hot meals on longer legs.
Washrooms
An enclosed washroom with a basin at the rear, in front of the baggage hold. Many aircraft also have a smaller toilet at the front, depending on the layout.
Cockpit
Honeywell-based PlaneView with four large screens and an infrared EVS camera that shows the pilots the runway through haze and darkness.
Connectivity
Some operators have fitted Gogo Avance, good for email and messaging, while other aircraft carry only a satellite phone. We state it for each aircraft.
Two pilots fly every trip. A cabin attendant depends on the operator and the aircraft; on legs of more than a couple of hours most operators bring one, and the quote says so.
Charter G450 aircraft in figures:
- Club seats and the conference group seat four each, so eight people face each other at tables
- Layouts for 16 replace some armchairs with divans
- Fewer people sleep than sit, so for a night sector plan two or three seats below the maximum

- Eight passengers: large suitcases plus hand luggage for everyone
- Six passengers: room left for skis, golf bags or a pushchair
- A full cabin of 14: plan one medium suitcase and one bag per person
- To Dubai or the Canaries with every seat taken, send the baggage weight, as the operator balances fuel against payload
On European legs the tanks are rarely full, so weight is no issue. It matters only on the longest sectors, when the aircraft carries fuel for seven or eight hours.
A dog or cat travels in the cabin with its owner once the operator has agreed before booking; give the breed, weight and carrier size. Within the EU the animal needs a microchip, a rabies vaccination given at least 21 days before travel and an EU pet passport. The UK, Ireland, Malta, Finland and Norway also require a tapeworm treatment for dogs 1-5 days before arrival, and the UK accepts animals only on approved routes and at approved airports.

Compared with the first GIV the fuselage is about 30 cm longer, and the nose section with the cockpit comes from the G550. Winter headwinds, detours around closed airspace and a distant alternate airport cut the real range by several hundred kilometres, so the route table plans non-stop legs up to about 6,800 km.
How the G450 fits the airports clients ask about most:
London
Farnborough, Luton or Biggin Hill. London City is not an option for an aircraft of this size.
Riviera
The G450 stays under the 35 t limit at Cannes-Mandelieu, but the 1,539 m runway is shorter than its take-off distance at full weight, so departures there leave with less fuel. For long legs we use
Nice.
Alps
Sion (2,000 m) takes the aircraft with a crew trained for the mountain approach. Samedan, at about 1,700 m elevation, needs a much lower take-off weight, while Lugano and the Courchevel altiport are too short. For the French resorts the usual airports are Geneva and Chambéry.
New York
Teterboro requires prior permission for aircraft over 100,000 lb (about 45 t). With 33,838 kg maximum weight the G450 lands there without it.
Flying the type in Europe
Slots on the Riviera and in Geneva
Nice and Geneva are slot-coordinated. On summer weekends and winter Saturdays slots and parking for a 27.23 m long jet run out early, so book well ahead.
Mykonos in summer
Private aircraft may stay on the ground only about 40 minutes in season. After dropping passengers the G450 flies on and waits at another airport, which the quote includes.
Domestic legs
Some charter G450 aircraft belong to operators from outside the EU, including the UK. Such an operator cannot normally carry passengers within one EU country, for example Paris - Nice, and EU operators cannot fly UK domestic legs, so we choose the operator to fit the itinerary.
Crew duty and de-icing
EU flight time limits cap the crew's day. A transatlantic leg with a same-day return is not possible, and a long day of several sectors needs an overnight stop. De-icing is charged separately and is a noticeable item for a jet of this size.

G450 routes from European hubs
Thirty routes from all thirteen hubs, from Paris - London (0:54 h) to Zurich - New York (7:55 h), each flown without a fuel stop. Prices are one way for the whole aircraft with crew and fuel, without airport fees and passenger taxes. Flight time follows the great circle plus taxi, climb and approach.

- Frankfurt - New York (6,189 km, 7:47 h) and Zurich - New York (6,310 km, 7:55 h) sit close to the planning limit; with a full cabin and a strong winter jet stream the operator may add a short stop in Shannon or Iceland
- Gulf routes depend on which airspace is open, so the operator confirms the flight time to Dubai, Doha or Riyadh in the quote
- Miami, the Caribbean, the Maldives and the US West Coast need a fuel stop; without one they call for a G550 or a Global 6000
For up to six passengers on a leg under two hours, such as Paris - Nice (1:19 h), a super midsize jet costs noticeably less, and we quote one alongside.
The calculator gives an indicative G450 price for any route you enter, including departures from regional airports across Europe.
How much does it cost to charter a G450
The flight-hour rate starts at EUR 9,800 for the whole aircraft with crew and fuel. On short legs the total is well above that rate multiplied by flight time, because positioning, the operator's minimum charge and handling form a fixed part. Paris - London takes 0:54 h and costs EUR 19,000, London - Nice takes 1:43 h and costs EUR 27,000.
Over longer sectors the fixed part spreads out. Paris - Tenerife costs EUR 48,000 for 3:50 h, and London - New York EUR 74,000 for 7:00 h. The price stays the same for three passengers or thirteen, so a full cabin lowers the cost per person sharply.
Flight time
The hours from the table at the G450 rate, the main item on any leg of three hours or more.
Positioning
If the nearest free G450 is based in another country, the flight to your airport, and back to base after the trip, appears as its own line.
Crew
Hotel and allowances when the aircraft waits for your return. On a long day that exceeds duty limits the plan includes an overnight stop.
Airport and handling
Landing, parking and handling fees grow with weight, so a 33.8 t jet pays more than a midsize at the same airport. Overnight parking in Nice or Geneva in season costs extra.
Passenger taxes
France charges the TSBA, about EUR 420 per passenger for jets on European routes. Italy: EUR 100 up to 1,500 km and EUR 200 beyond. Austria EUR 12 (EUR 30 up to 350 km), the Netherlands about EUR 30, Germany a departure tax, and the UK Air Passenger Duty at the higher rate for jets of 5.7 t and more.
Extras
Catering to order, winter de-icing, satellite internet use where fitted and ground transfers.
The price is for the aircraft, so on London - New York the share per person depends only on how many travel:
EUR 74,000
whole aircraft, London Farnborough - New York
EUR 18,500
per person with 4 passengers
EUR 9,200
per person with 8 passengers
EUR 6,200
per person with 12 passengers
Ways to pay less for the same trip
Waiting or two empty legs
For a return after a few days we always try to quote both: the jet stays with its crew, or it flies home and comes back. The cheaper option depends on the days in between and the operator's base.
Aircraft near the start
A G450 already in London, Geneva or the south of France saves a positioning leg, so a flexible departure airport widens the choice.
Older sister models
A GIV-SP or G400 offers almost the same cabin as the G450. With a flexible date their offers often come out lower.
Flexible times
Moving the departure by a few hours can fit the aircraft between two other charters.
Per-seat sales on this type are rare, since a group usually charters the whole aircraft. We offer single seats only when an operator publishes them.
Empty Legs on this Gulfstream
Many G450 aircraft are based in Europe and the Gulf, so empty sectors appear fairly regularly: returns from the Riviera and the islands to London or Geneva, and positioning between Europe and Dubai. Such a leg can be 40-65 % below a normal charter, as an example rather than a promise.
- Date, route and departure time are set by the operator and move only within narrow limits
- The leg can be cancelled if the aircraft gets a full charter
- The return flight is not included
Send your route and a date window to empty-legs@jets.flights or through the Empty Legs page, and we write when a suitable aircraft comes up.
G450, G550, GIV-SP, Challenger 650 or Falcon 900EX
Clients weighing a G450 usually compare it with the longer-range Gulfstream, its older sister and two large cabins from Bombardier and Dassault.
Same cabin cross-section, but 13.39 m long instead of about 12.29 m, and a range of 12,501 km. Reaches Miami and the Caribbean from Western Europe without a stop. The hourly rate is higher, so on routes the G450 flies non-stop it rarely wins on price.
The predecessor with almost the same fuselage and cabin, an older cockpit and Tay 611-8 engines. Range about 7,577 km. Often cheaper for the same trip if an older interior is acceptable.
Wider cabin (2.41 m) but lower (1.83 m) and shorter (7.80 m), usually 9 or 10 seats. 7,408 km with six passengers. For a group of up to eight it is the lower-cost choice.
Three engines, a 10.11 m cabin with 1.88 m headroom and 2.34 m width, and 8,334 km of range. The hold is smaller at 3.6 m³, and at full weight the jet needs about 1,590 m of runway.
How to book
For an accurate quote we need:
- route, dates and preferred departure times in both directions
- number of passengers and how many want to sleep on a night sector
- baggage, especially skis, golf bags and oversized cases
- any dog or cat, with breed, weight and carrier size
- whether internet, a cabin attendant or a second toilet matter
We check free aircraft with operators holding an AOC and compare the G450 offers with other GIV family jets based nearby. The quote names the operator, the aircraft, its age, positioning and taxes. If an operator cancels, we always try to find another aircraft or protect your payment, but each case depends on the operator's contract.
Within Schengen there is no passport control, but the operator still needs a passport or ID for every passenger. EU citizens flying to the UK need an ETA, and travellers to the USA under the Visa Waiver Programme need an approved ESTA.
Questions about the Gulfstream G450
-
- How much does a flight from London to New York cost?
-
From EUR 74,000 one way for the whole aircraft, Farnborough to New York in about 7:00 h without a stop. With eight passengers that is EUR 9,200 each. Airport fees, UK Air Passenger Duty and any crew stay for the return come on top.
-
- What is not included in the table price?
-
Airport and handling fees, passenger taxes of the departure country, catering, winter de-icing and the crew's hotel if the aircraft waits for you. Positioning from a distant base is shown as a separate line in the quote.
-
- How can the trip cost less?
-
Keep the departure time and airport flexible so we can take an aircraft based nearby, compare a waiting crew with two empty legs for the return, and ask for a GIV-SP or G400 with almost the same cabin. Under two hours with six or fewer people, a super midsize jet is cheaper.
-
- Are there Empty Legs on the G450?
-
Yes, fairly regularly, as many aircraft are based in Europe and the Gulf. They follow the operators' schedules, for example back to London or Geneva after a Riviera weekend, and can be 40-65 % below a normal charter in some cases. Date and route are fixed, and the leg can be withdrawn.
-
-
- Is there a proper toilet?
-
Yes, an enclosed washroom with a basin at the rear, and many aircraft have a smaller second toilet at the front. If a large group needs two, mention it in the request.
-
- Can it fly to New York without a stop?
-
From London yes: 5,526 km in 7:00 h. From Frankfurt or Zurich it is still non-stop in the table, but close to the planning limit, so with a full cabin and winter headwind the operator may plan a short fuel stop.
-
-
- Can I take my dog?
-
Usually yes, in the cabin next to you, once the operator agrees. Within the EU the dog needs a microchip, rabies vaccination and a pet passport; for the UK and the USA we check the extra entry rules before booking.
-
- Can the G450 land in Cannes or Sion?
-
Cannes-Mandelieu accepts it, but departures leave with reduced weight, so on longer trips we use Nice. Sion takes the G450 when the crew is trained for the airport, while Lugano (1,414 m) and the 537 m sloped altiport of Courchevel are too short for this type.
